Living History Volunteers
at Columbia State Historic Park
Help park visitors gain
a better understanding of the experience of gold rush miners & merchants
in the years 1850-1870. We need your help providing tours
& demonstrations in many of the historic buildings that are otherwise
closed to the public.
Potential docents (trained volunteers) must enjoy interacting with the public
& the camaraderie of working with others who have a passion for history.
We ask that docents volunteer approximately eight hours a month.
Benefits include training by knowledgeable staff & guest speakers, passes
to other parks, ongoing training & field trips, & the reward of bringing
the past to life!

Columbia State Historic Park New Docent Training Course

Docents are trained volunteers who assist
in the educational and interpretive programs at Columbia State Historic Park
by conducting school programs, staffing the museum, and participating in Special
Events such as Diggins and Lamplight. Many benefits are offered, including free
passes to other state parks, and the joy of sharing this unique historic spot
with visitors from throughout the world. Training will be on Saturdays beginning
the end of January - February: 10 AM - 3 PM. For an application and to schedule
an interview, call 588-9128.
